She might be edging towards her 50th birthday, but Elle Macpherson still looked every inch 'The Body' while riding the waves in her native Australia.

The 47-year-old model hit the surf during her holiday Down Under yesterday displaying her enviable figure in a cutaway wetsuit.

Despite showing off a slight tanning mishap by baring a white bikini outline against her sunkissed skin, Elle looked entirely unconcerned as she grinned with delight in the water.

Elle has been enjoying the sunshine in Oz during a vacation with her sons Arpad and Aurelius, along with father Peter and sister Mimi.

And despite her unfortunate VTL (Visible Tan Line), Elle looked in great shape as she enjoyed a morning workout on the waves.

Earlier in the day, Elle and her family had visited the Byron Bay tourist attraction The Macadamia Castle.

Park owner Tony Gilding, a former publishing executive who first met Elle back in 1992 when he published her swimsuit calendars, told Australia's Daily Telegraph of her visit: 'She was lovely. Charming as always and very down to earth.

'She was there with her family and they just wandered around the park like anyone else and were generally unbothered.'

While many people use the Christmas break to indulge in some calorific treats and let the exercise regime go slightly, Elle seems to be doing everything she can to stay in shape on her holiday.

As well as surfing, Elle was spotted enjoying an early morning run with father Peter, who is recovering from prostate cancer.

It is believed Elle and her family are enjoying their holiday at the exclusive Watego's Beach in Byron Bay.
